As Trump ran for re-election in 2020, Sasse unloaded on him<\/a>, saying Trump \u201ckisses dictators’ butts,\u201d \u201cflirted with white supremacists,\u201d \u201cdisparages women,\u201d \u201cmocks evangelicals behind closed doors\u201d and \u201ctreats the presidency like a business opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, Sasse was one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump for his role in the deadly riot.
